An increasing interest in purchasing insurance over the internet has resulted in the creation of the UK's first 100 per cent online insurance provider.
Many people are now turning to the internet to purchase their insurance, as they find it a useful tool to compare policies.
"Consumers are becoming increasingly comfortable with transacting entirely online," explained Andrew Blowers, the chief executive of the new company, swiftcover.com.
The company claims it is able to provide a complete car insurance quote in under a minute, and it is expected that there will be many more companies that will follow in swiftcover's footsteps by offering consumers comprehensive insurance services over the internet.
Mr Blowers added: "At swiftcover.com, we identified a gap in the insurance market to offer consumers not only the chance to buy their policies online, but to manage the entire process from quotes to claims."
